About SDCHC

San Diego Community Housing Corporation (SDCHC) is a housing and community development organization recognized for developing, preserving, and maintaining quality housing developments that support individuals, families, and neighborhoods in reaching their fullest potential. SDCHC’s mission is to “increase, preserve, and improve quality, affordable housing opportunities for working families.” Funded in 1994 as a California tax-exempt housing and community development corporation, SDCHC is an affiliate of Occupational Training Services, Inc. (OTS). OTS is one of San Diego’s most respected nonprofit employment and approved/accredited vocational training agencies boasting a 34 year history in both economic, workforce development and educational enrichment programs.

Since its inception, SDCHC has developed over 14 million dollars’ worth of homeownership projects for local residents. More than 106 families have been able to realize the American dream of homeownership despite San Diego having one of the highest real estate pricing of the any city in Southern California.

SDCHC has the experience to develop and manage real estate, to implement resident services, and to coordinate programs which improve neighborhoods. The agency provides quality property and asset management services which respect and promote resident responsibility and community participation.

SDCHC’s accomplishments since 1994 include, but not limited to:

1206 Multi-family Units – in partnership owned and managed
48 New single-family homes developed
58 Single-family homes and condominiums acquired and rehabilitated

Community Development Activities – SDCHC currently operates 7 Family Learning Opportunity Centers (FLOCs) located throughout San Diego County. These centers provide a variety of supportive programs for the families of our affordable apartment communities as well as surrounding areas. Some of the services include: Educational Enrichment (in partnership with local School Districts); English as a Second Language (ESL), Health Education, Financial Education (in partnership with local banking institutions); Workforce Development (in partnership various businesses and corporations); and Resident & Youth Associations (partnered with law enforcement and other community-based organizations), and Mental health services in partnership with Center for Aging Resources.
