Computer Literacy Program

The Computer Literacy Program addresses the digital divide by providing residents access to technology. Residents attend on-site classes in Microsoft Office, Internet research, and on the use of Email.

Educational Enrichment Program

The Educational Enrichment Program exposes low-income youthto enrichment materials in mathematics, science, and critical thinking. This program enhances, develops, and expands their knowledge in challenging subjects. The Educational Enrichment Program helps youth problem-solve difficult concepts and challenges them to find the underlying meaning of an equation.

"School Pop" - A total of 1,482 students from 1st through 5th grade are involved in active learning through the use of technology and the scientific method of problem solving.
"Seed" - A total of 1,118 students from 6th through 8th grade are receiving secondary educational enrichment development.
"Step-Up" - A total of 1,001 students from 8th through 12th grade are involved in an educational transition program. This program offers personal and vocational counseling an/or college entrance advice.

Financial Literacy Program

The Financial Literacy Program was developed to assist residents with their financial goals because of limited income. The FLOC staff assists residents with their financial needs through financial literacy workshops in home buying, banking, budgeting, credit, and debt management, bankruptcy, savings, retirement, investments, spending behavior and management, insurance issues, and tax topics such as earned income tax. In early 2006, an advanced Financial Literacy Program was implemented to serve not only San Diegans but Californians. The curriculum includes consumer education topics such as understanding legal rights as a consumer, understanding interest rates, avoiding hidden transaction costs, managing perosnal finances, effective saving strategies, learning how to create a household budget and other topics directed towards improving the financial literacy of any California consumer.

Senior Services

Granger residents are mostly senior citizens. As a result, the Granger curriculum is customized to meet the needs of seniors. Some of the programs catered to senior citizens include:

    The Workforce Development Program empowers residents by helping them build skills to increase their earning potential. Through this program residents learn career building skills. The individualistic approach to each person's career goals, as well as resources and referral services, assist residents in making positive career choices.
